Democrat Stacey Abrams, former House minority leader, and Secretary of State, Brian Kemp have both responded to questions posed by Georgia Health News on major healthcare issues facing Georgians.
Reporters from Georgia Health News asked the candidates to respond questions on some of the hottest healthcare topics today including:
1. Their positions on Georgia expanding its Medicaid program;
2. Their opinions on the success of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in regards to providing healthcare coverage through the exchange to Georgians who are unable to obtain job-based or government coverage;
3. Their opinions on urging the state attorney general to join 19 other states in petitioning to declare the ACA unconstitutional;
4. Their strategies for supporting rural healthcare in Georgia, particularly in light of recent hospital closings in the state as well as difficulty recruiting physicians to serve rural patient populations.
