Collecting money from patients in a Covid world presents unprecedented challenges to health system staff from the front end to the back end of the revenue cycle. Job losses, pay cuts and remote work environments have resulted in patients struggling to pay their portions. Yet hospitals still need to collect those deductibles, co-pays and other patient liabilities in order to keep the doors open.
Wendy Kukla, Director of Training and Quality Assurance at Hollis Cobb Associates, will host a webinar on the Georgia HFMA (Healthcare Financial Management Association) platform on Wednesday, August 26th at 1:00pm ET. She will explain some techniques for compassionate collections that have proved successful at Hollis Cobb for maintaining a revenue stream for hospitals while still keeping the patient experience a positive one.
Wendy has worked in the medical collection industry since 2003 focusing on staff development, training and onboarding new clients. Having begun her career as a collector, Wendy quickly advanced to collection manager and training manager. Her wide range of experience helps her understand the challenges first and third party collectors face when assisting patients in resolving accounts.
As the Director of Training and Quality Assurance for Hollis Cobb, Wendy is responsible for creating and maintaining the corporate and regulatory training efforts for the company, while promoting an organizational culture that encourages ethical and proper conduct in a commitment to compliance. She develops and oversees annual compliance testing and quarterly HIPAA testing required of all Hollis Cobb managers and staff. Wendy provides each Hollis Cobb team with client specific training upon implementation of a new project as well as ongoing updates for each client’s team. She also provides onsite, value-added collection, customer service and compliance training for our clients.
