Patient Access Week was established in April 1982 to mark the anniversary of the founding of the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM), which is the only national professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the access management field. NAHAM encourages member health systems to recognize their Patient Access staff, during the week of April 5-11, for their commitment to their facilities and their efforts to enhance patient relations, increase overall hospital morale and improve communications throughout their organizations.
